Sonal Rawat Is a law student studying in National law university Delhi.

She has been with our trust since last 5 years She has started this project keeping  the health of woman prisoners

There are 656 woman prisoners in Tihar jail and 54 of them have their children with them.

Tihar jail in Delhi is one of the largest jails in the world with nine central jail complexes.

The women have access to gyms, bathroom facilities  recreational facilities and library.

They can also spend time whilst doing creative activities. 

Inmates have a right to health care under the 8 th amendment  constitutional right.

Still the women prisoners are devoid of the health care facilities and they are subject to victimization  unstable family life, school and work failures.

There is an increase in substance misuse also.

The incidence of anxiety and depression is also on the rise.Women have irregular menstrual cycles and the hygiene is not maintained adequately.

Sonal Rawat is working on the menstrual and the mental health issues along with the help of the jail authorities.
